Westminster launch for Tzelem

Speaker of the House of Commons, The Rt Hon John Bercow MP hosted the launch of Tzelem - a unique cross-denominational Jewish clerical campaign group featuring a number of Reform rabbis and cantors on Wednesday 28 January. Dedicated to speaking out against injustice, Tzelem will reassert Judaism’s rich and vibrant tradition of social justice activism.

News from the Beit Din

Rabbi Dr Jonthan Romain of Maidenhead Synagogue has appointed as the Chair of the Standing Committee of the Beit Din of the Movement for Reform Judaism. The Beit Din, whose Convenor is Rabbi Dr Jackie Tabick, is Reform Judaism’s religious court, dealing with issues including questions of Jewish status, divorce and conversion.

Holocaust Memorial Day 2015

Each year on 27 January the world marks Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD). HMD has been held in the UK since 2001 and the United Nations declared this an international event in 2005. 27 January was chosen as the date for HMD because it was on this date in 1945 that the largest Nazi killing camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated. It has special significance this year, marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation.
