British Tour Participants First to Meet Noam Shalit
Wednesday, 11 August 2010
This summer, 35 participants on RSY-Netzer's Israel Tour became the first group to meet with Noam Shalit, Gilad’s father, in Jerusalem.
The group spoke with Noam Shalit in the protest tent outside the Prime Minister's office that Noam has pledged to remain in until a resolution is reached. The 15 and 16 year olds shared a poem that they had written for Gilad and Noam spoke about where Gilad was kidnapped from and of the march from their home on Kibbutz Shfayim. This powerful encounter has given the Israel Tour chanichim a personal connection to the cause.Here is the poem they wrote for Gilad:
Here at RSY-Netzer,
Your son's story touched our hearts,
And as for his fight for freedom;
This is just the start.
Just as your son fought for his country,
We will fight to set him free,
Because someone as brave and noble as your son,
Is the kind of person we all aspire to be.
Your son is a true hero,
And we will make his name known.
Whether it be in London, Paris, New York or Rome.
So keep your heads up,
Because you are not on your own,
Everyone’s here for you,
In the hope that soon, your son will be home.
