Connecting the next Jeneration of Jewish students

PrintE-mail

As Jewish students prepare to leave home for university, they will be greeted at Freshers’ Week by a new initiative which aims to connect them Jewishly whilst at university. This week sees the launch of ‘Jeneration Students’ – a range of projects including the publication of the Ultimate Guide to Student Survival; a student space on Jeneration.org and the student rep scheme which will offer activities on campuses across the UK.

Sheldon Mordsley, the Jeneration Student Fieldworker, has begun a week-long roadshow to Freshers’ Fairs around the country. He will be distributing survival guides and Jeneration USB sticks to Jewish students as well as connecting with students who will be organising religious services and social events for their fellow Jewish students on campus throughout the year.

The Ultimate Guide to Student Survival includes tips on all aspects of student life, from how to survive Freshers’ Week and how to manage a limited budget, to J-Soc contacts, Hillel Houses and keeping kosher on campus.

Jeneration is also offering FREE High Holy Days tickets to students and 18-30s at Reform synagogues across the country, so that all students, even if they can’t make it home for Yomtov, can be part of a community at this important time of year. And compact Jeneration siddurim will also be distributed to Hillel Houses, J-Socs and students everywhere.

Sheldon commented: “Having had lots of students from across the community approach me; I know that there is a real need for more opportunities for Jewish students to connect and get involved in activities and events on campus.”

Details about the High Holydays Pass scheme and all Jeneration Students activities can be found at www.jeneration.org. Notes for Editors

Jeneration is the portal for Jewish life on your terms.

We are a friendly, open community created by you.

A space where you can expand your social networks, making connections with others wherever they may be; geographically or Jewishly.

A space where you can find out what is going on, publicise your events and let others know about cool stuff you've come across.

A space for expression and debate, a platform where your voice will be heard. Here you can engage with contemporary issues and have your say, sharing a desire to make a difference to the world we live in.

Jeneration is backed by the Movement for Reform Judaism with the aim of enriching all of our Jewish lives - however we choose to identify ourselves. We include community-wide as well as Reform events in our listings reflecting the way we all live and socialise.

Get connected.
