Vigil calls for government action on food poverty

A public vigil was held in Westminster on Wednesday 16 April by members of the End Hunger Fast campaign. Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, Senior Rabbi to the Movement for Reform Judaism, represented the Jewish community at the event which coincided with the second day of Pesach and the last days of Lent as well as the publication of letters from religious leaders calling on party leaders to act on food poverty.

Jewish leaders call for action on hunger

Community leaders from the Board of Deputies, the Movement for Reform Judaism, the United Synagogue, Liberal Judaism and Masorti Judaism have written to David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband calling for them to meet with faith leaders to discuss 'how this country can become a place where all who are hungry can eat, and all who are in need can find freedom from poverty.'

It has been established to investigate whether further measures should be taken to ensure Britain has a permanent and fitting memorial and meaningful educational resources for generations to come.
