Mike Prashker looks at pessimism concerning the current situation in Israel and argues that a different progressive leadership strategy is needed. Mike Prashker is founder and director of Merchavim -The Institute for the Advancement of Shared Citizenship in Israel. Merchavim's educational mission to help all young citizens of Israel become comfortable with the diversity that characterises Israeli society, is supported by British Friends of Merchavim. Glasgow Reform Synagogue welcomed a large congregation of dignitaries, friends and members for its annual Holocaust Memorial Day Shabbat Civic Service which focused on the HMD 2012 theme of 'Speak Up, Speak Out'.
