Irene Kay, Headteacher at Clore Shalom school in Shenley, recently received a commendation in the form of a beautifully engraved glass trophy in the "Headteacher of the Year in a Primary school category" of the National Teaching Awards.
The awards attracted some 8,000 entries nationwide and the judges commented that these finalists were the best of the best. The judges were impressed by their visit to Clore Shalom, witnessing part of assembly as well as talking to governors, staff and pupils. Irene praised her excellent staff team and said that this award was a reflection on the whole Clore Shalom community.
Opened in 1999, The Clore Shalom School is a voluntary aided primary day school that serves the local and wider Jewish community. The school is supported by the Reform, Liberal and Masorti Movements. It seeks to provide a warm, joyful and supportive Jewish community for the entire staffing body, students and parents alike, encouraging life long learning and commitment to Jewish values.
