JCoSS Delighted with Feedback for Sixth Form
Tuesday, 22 November 2011
As Pam Goldsmith, Director of Community Development at the Movement for Reform Judaism, mentioned earlier in the year, JCoSS, the Jewish Community Secondary School is preparing to open its sixth form.
JCoSS held its sixth form open evening earlier this month, and in common with the main school, students were attracted from a broad spectrum of traditions, with Reform being one of the largest groupings.
The evening, which was deemed a great success, was attended by almost 500 people wanting to hear what the school had to offer sixth formers.
Headteacher, Jeremy Stowe-Lindner commented: "We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous feedback that was received on the night. Parents and students were impressed by what we had to offer - small class sizes allowing individual attention, impressive facilities including a fantastic modern new common room and outstanding, professional teachers, including Deputy Headteacher Patrick Moriarty, former Head of Sixth Form at Haberdashers' Girls." He continued: "I had some lovely conversations with students who were genuinely excited about coming to JCoSS due to our refreshing, inclusive ethos."
Jo-Ann Myers, a member of Sha'arei Tsedek North London Reform Synagogue commented: "My daughter, husband and I were very much looking forward to attending the JCoSS sixth form open evening last week and we were not disappointed. The evening was informative, professional and enjoyable. My daughter was very impressed with the sixth form facilities, especially the Apple Macs! It was such a great feeling to know that as a proud Reform Jew, my daughter has a place where she can truly live out her ideals and learn in an inclusive environment."
Due to demand, JCoSS are holding further talks and tours of the school, hosted by Mr Moriarty. There are a number of dates over the coming months, as follows: Monday 12th December 5.30pm Tuesday 10th January 5.30pm and Wednesday 8th February 5.30pm
If you wish to attend, please go to the JCoSS website.
