Written by Movement for Reform Judaism Tuesday, 06 September 2011
Simchat Torah marks the 25th anniversary of Kol Chai – Hatch End Jewish Community.
A number of special events have been planned to mark the anniversary. The first, a singing workshop with Judith Silver was a great success.
Others include Desert Island Discs with Rabbi Michael Hilton, a film screening, walking, cycling and table tennis events, a special lecture by Dr Keith Kahn-Harris on the future of British Jewry, a civic Shabbat morning service and a silver anniversary party with dancing to a live band.
Peter Lewy, Kol Chai President and Chair of the 25th anniversary celebrations said: "The variety of events we have planned reflects the dynamism and breadth of interests of our close-knit community. This is an opportunity to celebrate our journey and look forward to an exciting future."
Visit the Kol Chai website for more details of the celebrations and listen to Pete Martin and others talk about how Kol Chai started.
You can also order a copy of a 2012 calendar produced by Kol Chai member Joshua Roston. Joshua is supporting Kol Chai and the charity myisrael with his calendar which he created with wildlife photographs he took on a trip to Israel as a tzedakah project in his Bar Mitzvah year.
