North West Surrey Hosts Multi-Faith Forum

Over 40 people attended an Elmbridge Multi Faith Forum event held at North West Surrey Synagogue in Weybridge on Wednesday, February 18th.The occasion, entitled “Aspects of Judaism”, featured speakers who presented the faith from the Orthodox and Reform perspectives.

They discussed the similarities and differences in practices and beliefs. Individuals from various religious institutions were present as well as members from the North West Surrey and Staines United Synagogues.

The very knowledgeable Phyllis Conway, of Staines United Synagogue, represented the Orthodox perspective whilst Avril Halle of the Weybridge community educated the audience on the Reform point of view. The informative evening included discussion on topics including God, Torah, the role of women, festivals, dietary laws, Israel and the afterlife. The event concluded with delicious refreshments and a warm thank you speech by Dr. Nabil M. Mustapha of the Elmbridge Multi-Faith Forum.

The Elmbridge Multi-Faith Forum, which was established in 2004 and aims to inform Borough residents of places of worship in their area and promotes education on different faiths. For further information, please see the website.
