North West Surrey make Mitzvah Day Debut

PrintE-mail

North West Surrey Synagogue is leading the way in Weybridge this Sunday, 15th November, in support of Mitzvah Day. This will be the first time the community has organised activities in recognition of the day.

Two of their projects will involve preparing decorated gift boxes and filling them with seasonal gifts to be distributed to children at Barnardos and adults in need of some festive cheer. A second project, ‘Mitzvah Day Shopping’ will ask people shopping at four local branches of Waitrose (Weybridge, Esher, Cobham and Hersham) to purchase one extra item of food to donate on their way out. All food collected will then be distributed to the Thames Homeless Project, a local registered charity to help the homeless restart their lives.

The NWSS Mitzvah Day projects are open to all and they would be delighted to hear from anyone, adults and children, who would like to sign up or to learn more about them. Either visit the Mitzvah Day website or contact Beverley Pell (01932 340818 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
