North West Surrey Synagogue supports FamilyLine
Written by Movement for Reform Judaism Thursday, 30 April 2009
Members of North West Surrey Synagogue have donated £4,500 to the Surrey based charity, FamilyLine. The funds were raised as part of the community’s annual High Holy Days celebration.
Rabbi Jackie Tabick of the Weybridge congregation presented the cheque to Jeff Travis, Chairman of FamilyLine at the charity’s head office in Dorking on Friday, April 3rd. She commented: “We are absolutely convinced that the work of this charity is beneficial”. “Their real desire to support families closely ties in with the way Judaism sees the role of families as being central to the health and well-being of individuals and society in general.” FamilyLine Surrey is a confidential freephone helpline for anyone living or working in Surrey wanting to discuss difficulties. The charity’s overall aim is to foster the well being of children and families. Their trained volunteers help to investigate possible solutions and have experience assisting with a variety of situations including drugs, abuse, bereavement and divorce.
Jeff Travis, Chairman of FamilyLine said: “this donation will help us raise the profile of our charity which means that we can help more families.” “We are delighted with the contribution and would sincerely like to thank all of North West Surrey’s Synagogue’s congregants for their generosity.”
Any Surrey residents wishing to use this valuable service should contact FamilyLine on 0808 800 5678. To make a donation or learn more about this charity, log onto the FamilyLine website or call 01306 743 233.
