Louise Hector from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust explains how the Trust can provide assistance in organising an event in your community.Organising an event for Holocaust Memorial Day can often seem overwhelming, particularly if you are doing so for the first time. There are many different resources available from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT) which can help with elements of your event. You may also find that your audience may appreciate hand out material to take away. You can find out more about these in our HMD 2010 Campaign Pack . This is available and suitable for all organisers free of charge and gives all the essential information you need to know to when organising a HMD commemorations. HMDT provides PowerPoint presentations and films which may help to form part of your event.
The HMDT website also includes suggested resources such as images , readings , suitable music and poetry. These are only suggestions and organisers should feel free to use other materials that they may feel are more appropriate to their audience. Educators should visit the bespoke education website where you will find activities for primary, secondary and post 16 students across all areas of the curriculum. Assemblies, case studies, lesson plans and activities have been produced and are now available to download free of charge from the website.
