Rabbi Jackie Tabick becomes interfaith president
Tuesday, 07 May 2013
Rabbi Jackie Tabick has been made a Co-President of the World Congress of Faiths together with Rev Dr Marcus Braybrooke. The appointment was made at last week's AGM of the Congress which is one of the oldest interfaith groups in the country.
Rabbi Tabick said: "I am honoured to be working alongside such a wonderful person as Rev Braybrooke and to be walking in the steps of such interfaith luminaries as Sir Sigmund Sternberg and Rabbi Hugo Gryn. I am absolutely clear that unless the followers of the different religions in this world can gain an understanding of, and a respect for, each other, then our much prayed for messianic era of peace will never arrive".
Rabbi Tabick has served as Chair of the Congress for many years. The speaker for the AGM was Aaqil Ahmed, Commissioning Editor Religion and Head of Religion and Ethics at the BBC.
