Rabbi Jackie Tabick of North West Surrey Synagogue recently spoke on ‘the balancing act of compassion’ in a short film.

The film can be viewed here at the TED website. TED’s stated mission is the ‘spreading of ideas’ and the website is ‘a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other’.

A Charter for Compassion plaque was presented to the Sternberg Centre on 12th November. The plaque marks the Centre’s endorsement of the Charter and it will be on display in the Interfaith Room at the Finchley site.Rabbi Tabick’s contribution was part of a Charter for Compassion series of talks. Rabbi Tabick explains: “I am chair of the World Congress of Faiths and we have just been involved with the Global Ethic exhibition in Southwark Cathedral, and also with running a programme there based on the Moral Maze format entitled 'Need or Greed'. Karen Armstrong heard about the exhibition which presents very much the same message as her Charter for Compassion, namely, that all the main world religions share an ethic of care and concern, and contacted me to make the video.”
