The Value of Denominations in Judaism

Running alongside our strategic review, we are featuring a series of articles on our website and in the Movement Update. We hope these articles will provoke debate and discussion within the Movement – we welcome your thoughts: comment, anger, congratulations, agreement, disagreement...The latest in the series is an article written by Arnold M. Eisen, Chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary, the major academic centre of Conservative Judaism in the United States.
The article examines the value of denominations in Judaism. He argues that denominations are worth preserving and 'indeed are essential to Jewish passion and commitment'.
