Three Great Reasons to Send your Child on Shemesh this Summer!
Thursday, 03 February 2011Shemesh is a two week residential summer camp that RSY-Netzer runs every year. There are four camps for different ages spanning ages 10–15 all held in the UK. Shemesh is all about creating our own Jewish community, having fun and learning together whilst making friends and helping each other become more interested in, and proud of, being Jewish!
Briyah: Ages 10 – 12
Emunah: Age 13
Reut: Age 14
Atid: Age 15
Three Reasons to Send your Child on Shemesh
1. They will make loads of friends! We are very proud of the atmosphere we create on Shemesh, an atmosphere which brings everyone together in a loving and respectful community. The friendships that are made during these two weeks can last a lifetime. Never before has your child had the chance to have so much fun with so many like-minded young Jewish people.
2. It’s not just the friendships that last a lifetime but the Reform Jewish values that we introduce to your children, the values that are central to RSY-Netzer. Nowhere else can your child learn about Israel, Tikkun Olam (Repairing the world) and Reform Judaism in a way that's positive and engaging. Every year hundreds of children leave Shemesh that little bit more passionate about being Jewish and being socially conscious.
3. Shemesh improves confidence and independence. Year after year we find that the experience of being away from home in their own peer community helps your child to understand and grow into themselves. Being away from you for two weeks allows them to develop their independence and self-belief. The challenge of meeting so many new people in such a positive environment ensures that they will learn to love exactly who they are.
