Chagigah 2012 Programme of Events
Chagigah 2012: a weekend celebrating Reform Judaism

The programme at Chagigah 2012 will be split into streams, allowing you to make the most of your time and tailor a programme as broad or focussed as suits your needs and interests.

Our learning tracks include:

Reform living - A first look at an exciting new programme from the Movement. Who are we and what do we believe?

Cultural Judaism – Discuss, debate and learn about some of the cultural aspects of our life, politics, arts and literature.

Good God? - Analysing how we understand God as Reform Jews in the 21st century.

Shira - 'Shira' is the Hebrew word for ‘song’ - explore new music to add variety and depth to our services and communities.

Shaliach tzibur - Through song, text study and reflection this five class track invites people to explore the function of tefillah (prayer), learn the music that serves this purpose and further develop their prayer proficiencies. Each session will explore a particular element in the construct of prayer and will include singing, learning new melodies, text study and a taste of what the Israeli Reform Movement is doing.

Tikkun olam - Repairing the world; understanding how we can make a difference towards a more just world.

Lay leadership - Sharing practical skills and inspirational ideas from our communities.

Leo Baeck College - A fantastic opportunity for in-depth text study with the educators of Leo Baeck College.

A full programme of activities will be run by RSY-Netzer for 5-17 year olds and a professionally-staffed crèche will be provided during the day.
